Frewen College

students receive award at the houses of parliament

Two students from year 10, Alice and Roman, were privileged to visit the Houses of Parliament in March to take part in an award ceremony to collect Frewen College's Bronze Democracy award.

The children were presented the Bronze award on behalf of Frewen for gaining a 50% turnout in the Big Vote last November, where students were invited to vote for a youth parliament member of the Rother area. This was the first year that Frewen had taken part in the Big Vote.

The award cermeony took place in one of the committee rooms at the House of Commons, and our two students were able to take part in a Question Time session with MP Nus Ghani amongst others as part of the occasion. The students went on to meet our local constituency MP Huw Merriman and visited his parliamentary office.  One pupil, Roman, commented: " This made me more interested in Parliament."
