Frewen College

2019 exam results best ever!

We are very proud that our exam results, based on pupil progress and achievement against their CATS projections, have increased year-on-year over the last five years, and the 2019 results were the best ever. Congratulations to all the students - and their teachers - for all their hard work and commitment!

GCSE and Equivalent (Level 2 courses)

The pass rate at GCSE was 100%, with candidates exceeding their CAT projections by an average of just over one GCSE grade across all GCSEs taken, in spite of their dyslexia and related needs. Mr Goodman, Principal at Frewen said: “The pupil progress reflected in these results is phenomenal, and clearly indicates the difference that Frewen has made for the Year 11 students. The combination of small classes, supportive specialist teachers and thorough exam preparation has led to their exceeding all expectations.”

Of all of the GCSE results gained by our students this August,  62% were  grades  9 - 4 (or equivalent) , this is a truly fantastic result for a school for dyslexic children.

Headlines include in Maths GCSE,  75% of our students gained grades 9 - 4, Science 50% gained grades 9-4, in English Literature 100% of students gained  grades 9-4, Film Studies 100% of students gained grades  9-4, Performing Arts 100% of students gained 9-4, in Music 100% gained 9-4 and in PE 100% gained grades 9-4.

Sixth Form Courses

The pass rate for all Sixth Form courses was also an impressive 100%. Courses included  BTEC and, for the first time, A Levels. Hazel Lawrence, Head of Sixth Form said: “For the fifth year running, our Sixth Formers have achieved 100% success including a Distinction* on Level 2 Public Services; a Merit, Merit, Pass on Level 3 Public Services; an A in German and a B in Psychology. These are huge achievements for students with dyslexia and other related needs.”
