Fees

We welcome day and boarding pupils, and boarding is fully flexible. Please note that availability is very limited in some year groups.

We welcome international students, provided that English is their first or strong second language.

Frewen College Fees & Charges 2023/24

Initial charges: 

Evaluation and assessment fees:

  • Day pupils: £200 
  • Boarders: £300 

NB: These fees are for our internal evaluation and assessment procedures. In all cases we shall require presentation of a recent Educational Psychologist's report or similar documentation.

Other initial charges:

  • Non-refundable registration fee: £150
  • Refundable deposit (UK & HM Forces): £500
  • Refundable overseas & non-UK national deposit: one terms fees 
    All deposits are repaid on leaving, less any outstanding extras.

Specialist Support Charges:

The level of specialist support is determined by the pupil's Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP), or if there is no EHCP, it will be agreed during the assessment and evaluation of the pupil. This is then subject to adjustment at the Annual Review if considered appropriate.

Additional fees are charged for one to one therapy delivered by a qualified therapist or small group sessions under the direction of a qualified therapist. The following termly charges apply for each weekly one to one session required.

Speech and Language Therapy: £1,020
Occupational Therapy: £1,020
Physiotherapy: £1,020
Specialist 1:1 Literacy and Numeracy £1,020
Small groups of up to four will be charged at £165
per pupil

If referral to an external therapist is required this will be charged direct to parents or Local Authorities at cost.

Other Specialist Support: other individualised support is included within the basic fee including:

  • Intensive Literacy support
  • Intensive Numeracy support
  • Personal and Social Development groups
  • Johansen Sound Therapy
  • Annual Reviews

Curriculum Materials:

  • Stationery
  • Food & nutrition ingredients
  • Design & technology materials
  • Art materials

Other non-chargeable items:

  • Specialist diets.
  • Transport for Sixth Formers to partner Colleges.
  • Travel insurance for school trips (parents are advised to check details).
  • Boarding activities.
  • No additional charges for weekend boarding.

Chargeable Extras: 

Parents will normally be expected to pay for :

  • Special trips, at cost.
  • Fees for external examinations, at cost.
  • Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, at cost.
  • Some after school clubs and activities involving external coaches.

Music: Individual music lessons (including piano, violin, singing, drums, wind, and guitar)are charged at £180 per term.

Boarding: Boarding fees include the cost of all activities unless advised in advance. 

Payment Methods: 

Fees must be paid in full on or before the first day of term. A discount of 1% is available on a term's fees paid on or by the first day of term; a discount of 2% is available on fees paid annually in advance. Interest at 1.5% per month will be charged on late fees unless prior arrangements have been made.

We encourage parents to pay by electronic funds transfer direct into our bank account, the details of which are available from the Business Manager's office.

Cheques should be made payable to:

"Frewen College" and crossed "A/c payee"

Regrettably, due to changes in the Consumer Credit Act we are no longer able to offer monthly payment by standing order, other than by way of separate termly agreements. In view of the administration costs involved such arrangements will incur an annual administration charge of £30.

Insurances: 

Free insurance cover is provided for school trips but parents should seek details from the Business Manager's Office. The College can accept no responsibility for incorrect assumptions about the cover provided.

No insurance cover is provided automatically by the school against loss of pupils' personal effects. Parents are strongly advised to take out such insurance- the school has an optional policy which parents may choose to take.  Details of this insurance can be downloaded below:
