Frewen College

Friends & Alumni

Welcoming 'Friends’ … Our Parent, Teacher and Friends association (PTFA) is a volunteer organisation, where current parents, carers and staff members of Frewen College are automatic members.

We are inclusive so Friends, Alumni and the local community are invited to participate too. The invitation: We hope that 'Friends' will draw support not just from past students, but also from past and present parents, staff, governors, and others who have helped with or benefited from the school’s outstanding work over many years.

We would also welcome involvement from anyone who attended the earlier schools based at Brickwall House, or those who simply share an appreciation of the superb historic buildings, gardens and grounds. Frewen College PTFA will continue to provide a focal point for all those who would like to renew old contacts, or support the ongoing work of the school. Our website will in due course be developed to enable easier networking and means of contacting old friends from your time at Frewen or its predecessor school Brickwall House.

Extended Aims:

Frewen College PTFA have simple aims - We support the school to achieve its goals, enhance student experience and help the staff make learning a positive and fun adventure for all. The extended aims include (but are not exclusive) to:

Building a network of past pupils to exchange news, information, and mutual support and encouragement.

Building up a pool of volunteers willing to help the school in a variety of ways such as assisting with school trips, sports, or working parties for special projects in and around the grounds.

Building a contacts directory of general and specialist expertise in anything from running a dance workshop to designing a multi-media theatre!

Helping with fundraising for specific capital expenditure projects.

Generating support for the Frewen Fund, which was set up to raise money to supplement the school’s Bursary Scheme.

We would like to raise funds principally through small regular Gift Aid donations to assist particularly deserving pupils where, even with the support of a maximum bursary, parents simply cannot afford to finance the residual fees.

We still turn away pupils who we know would benefit greatly from Frewen’s expertise, but who do not qualify for Local Authority funding and who have no access to private funding: it is hoped that the Frewen Fund will increase the access to Frewen College’s services.

Contact: Frewen College PTFA welcomes Valiant Volunteer Representatives who will champion and connect with Friends, Alumni and members of our local community

Whether you see yourself as a volunteer or participant, please simply register your interest via the school office or PTFA@frewencollege.co.uk If you are in touch with any other former students, parents, staff or governors please bring our website and association activities to their attention.
