Frewen host dyslexia conference

Frewen College were delighted to host a packed Dyslexia Conference with the CEO of the British Dyslexia Association.

An audience of over sixty parents, head teachers and other teaching professionals from schools across Sussex and Kent recently attended Frewen College’s second Dyslexia Conference.

The theme of the Dyslexia Conference was to provide information about Dyslexia and how it affects young people in education whilst also suggesting strategies to help.  Mr Nick Goodman, Principal at Frewen College, said: “We were privileged to have Dr Kate Saunders, the CEO of the British Dyslexia Association, as our Key Note Speaker. Dr Saunders regularly speaks at many international venues so we were very pleased to welcome her to Frewen and the audience were delighted with her engaging presentation and honest reflections on Dyslexia.”

Mr Goodman continued: “We were also very proud to have a number of our own students talk at the conference about their experience of Dyslexia and how Frewen College has helped them overcome some of the barriers they have faced. The students received many positive comments from our educational visitors impressed with how articulate and confident they were.”

Liam Ryan from Amaze, an independent support service based in Brighton, also spoke at the conference and gave extremely useful advice and information about how schools can help parents obtain good Education Health Care Plans for children with special educational needs.
