Prize Giving Day 2019

Students and parents basked in the sunshine to enjoy our annual Prize Giving Day at the end of last term to celebrate the achievements of all our students, and say a final farewell to our Sixth Formers.

We were pleased to welcome our guest of honour Aidan Ridyard, a distinguished architect and dyslexic, who has designed many notable educational buildings, and the the Telford International Centre where he spoke at last year’s British Dyslexia Association’s conference. Aidan described a little of his inspirational journey from a boy who could barely read and write to a successful architect with 25 years in practice, and now a Principal at Burrell Foley Fischer.

All our students were rewarded for their tremendous hard work and dedication, and particular mention was made to our departing Sixth Formers, many who had been at Frewen for several years. We were particularly delighted to hear from one of our Sixth Formers, Will R, who gave a very moving, powerful and eloquent speech about how Frewen had helped him on his way to achieving his dreams. He described arriving at the school as a confused boy, who lacked confidence and leaving the school a confident young man ready to take his next steps. His talk was nicely rounded off with a Dumbledore quote: ‘Help will always be given to those who ask’.
